I remain standing for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, which will be led by the delegate from Alexandria, Delegate Heron. Good morning. Let us pray. Eternal and most sovereign God, we have gathered in this chamber today, keenly aware that history is watching and generations yet unborn will feel the weight of what is decided in this place. We give thanks for the privilege God to serve. We do not take lightly or for granted the authority entrusted to this assembly by the people of this great commonwealth. In a time, O God, marked by division, uncertainty and competing voices, grant our leaders wisdom that rises above mere politics, courage that does not bend under pressure and integrity that refuses compromise with injustice.
