The members will rise and be led in prayer by Dr. George Anderson, senior pastor, Presbyterian Church, Roanoke, and remain standing for the Pledge of Allegiance of the flag of the United States of America, which will be led by the delegate from Alexandria. Delegate hearing. Let us pray. Holy One, of justice and mercy, we bow before you, mindful of the weight and privilege of leadership, you have entrusted this body with shaping laws for a diverse and spirited commonwealth. Grant these delegates grace to listen carefully, to speak truthfully, and to act with integrity. May their work continue to set an example worthy of this chamber, showing that conviction and civility can dwell together and that disagreement need not become disdain. In negotiation, grant them creativity and in compromise, grant them wisdom. For we know that even imperfect agreements can advance the common good.
