Notable Quotes

“I do not like coming to a meeting and have to work on the bill. If you bring a bill to this subcommittee, you should have all your details worked out. I do not want to be taking amendments from members once we get here. Your bill, you present it concisely, we vote on it, we pass it. We're not debating a great deal of changes on the bill because your bill should be ready when you come to the subcommittee meeting. And we should not be having to fix your bill in a meeting. If it's not fixed, we will pass it by or we will kill it.”

Chair (name not stated in transcript) — The chair set expectations at the outset of the hearing regarding how bills must be prepared before coming to the subcommittee.
