Controversies

Broad public notice vs. individualized evidence requests for alcohol and firearm allegations

Representative Woodrow argued for posting a general public notice in the building soliciting written communications about the alcohol and firearm allegations, calling it administratively feasible and 'probative either way'; Ms. Chase warned that a broad notice would likely generate testimonial responses the committee is not permitted to consider at this stage, and recommended the notice explicitly specify written communications or documentation only; Ed Gacheco called the concept 'novel' and suggested the committee wait until the next meeting to finalize the language.
